The Shelf sidebar. Show/Hide it on the right side of the Edit window with ⌘ Command + 2
Have research you want to keep handy? A theme you want to keep present throughout your script? Leave yourself notes on The Shelf by clicking the Plus button and selecting Comment from the Notes section.
Keep a running checklist that won’t show up in The Navigator. Click the Plus button and select To Do List from the Notes section.
Checklists have an added option in their card’s drop-down menu to clear out completed tasks.
You can have multiple To Do Lists on The Shelf at the same time.
If you prefer to keep track of this information on The Shelf instead of the Status Bar at the bottom of the window, click the Plus button and select Stats from the Tools section.
Set checkpoints for yourself for your page count, word count, or character count. Click the Plus button and select Goals from the Tools section.
You can set additional goals by clicking the Plus button in the card.
When you hover over a completed goal, you’ll reveal the date and time you completed it.
Any text you bring over directly from the Editor shows up as a Snippet. This can be useful for moving scenes, dialogue, or any chunk of writing out of the document to find it a home later on.
You can highlight text, then drag and drop it onto The Shelf to Cut it from your document. For keyboard shortcuts, use ⌥ Option + ⌘ Command + X to Cut text to The Shelf, or ⌥ Option + ⌘ Command + C to copy it over.
Every card on The Shelf can be dragged to re-order it by clicking and holding on the name of the card.
You can also click on the drop-down menu on the top-right of any card to push it to the top or bottom of The Shelf, or delete it.
To edit the title of a card on the Shelf, click on the title text.
To edit the body text in a Snippet or Comment, double click on the text.
When you’re done, click the Green return arrow to save your changes.
With Comments, you can click the Trash Can icon to quickly delete the card. With Snippets, clicking the X at the bottom of the card will Undo any changes you’ve made.
